The six-story Gateway Plaza Office Building is located at the eastern edge of downtown Macon. Upon completion, it will create a new focal point in downtown Macon. Soil conditions at the site required that a deep foundation system be designed. The deep foundation system consists of a grid of grade beams supported by caissons drilled to a depth of 50 feet. The steel superstructure is designed as a moment frame to resist lateral wind and seismic forces. Structural provisions have also been made for a roof-top sculpture, a pedestrian bridge, an entrance canopy, and window-washing equipment.
