The 3-story Lanier Building was constructed circa 1920. It originally served as a high school in Macon. It was purchased several years ago by the Medical Center of Central Georgia. It is currently being renovated for use as physician office space. Structural items in the renovation included a new structural steel frame built in the interior of the building to support 3-stories of office space as well as roof top mechanical equipment and a mechanical penthouse. A new elevator shaft, removal/penetration of load bearing walls and repair of existing wood structure was also part of the job.
